Anıtaş is a modular system proposal that aims to reinterpret small, functionless stone fragments—by-products of natural stone production—into meaningful, collectible objects. Stones extracted from various regions of Turkey are transformed into 7x7 cm cubes, turning into “memory pieces” that carry both the geological and cultural imprint of their place of origin. On the reverse side of each stone, the type and source region are permanently engraved. Visitors can access these stones during local festivals or through small shops located in the cities where the quarries are situated. This localized distribution model ensures a unique and tangible connection between the object and its place. Moreover, the fact that each stone is only available in its region of origin encourages domestic tourism, as users seeking to complete their collections are expected to travel across different cities. The collection consists of three modules: Memory Stone (pure form), Sound Stone (with integrated speaker), and Light Stone (with lighting element). Each module is presented with a custom-designed box and a stainless steel display structure that can be expanded as the collection grows. QR codes included in each box allow users to digitally register their stones via a mobile app and track their collection on a map. Future collaborations aim to produce limited-edition series, inviting local artists to contribute original interpretations to both the stone and packaging designs.
